Τα BAFTA πραγματοποιήθηκαν, σε μια κατάμεστη αίθουσα στο Royal Festival Hall, με τους μεγάλους νικητές ν’ ανακοινώνονται και να καταφθάνουν στη σκηνή για να παραλάβουν το χρυσό αγαλματίδιο. Τα BAFTA αποτελούν τη μεγαλύτερη γιορτή βραβείων για την Αγγλία ενώ θεωρούνται από πολλούς προπομπός των νικητών στα Όσκαρ. Η ταινία του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου “Poor Things” απέσπασε συνολικά 5 βραβεία, το “Oppenheimer” του Christofer Nolan απέσπασε συνολικά 7 βραβεία ενώ κάποιες άλλες ταινίες που δεν αποτελούσαν φαβορί κατάφεραν να φύγουν με το αγαλματίδιο στο χέρι -κι αποτέλεσαν την έκπληξη.
Πολλά απ’ αυτά τα βραβεία που δόθηκαν δεν τα περιμέναμε ομολογουμένως! Το event φιλοξένησε όλα τα μεγάλα ονόματα του διεθνούς κινηματογράφου αλλά και της τηλεόρασης. H Τζουν Τζιβάνι παρέλαβε το φετινό τιμητικό βραβείο για τη συνολική προσφορά της στον Βρετανικό κινηματογράφο.
Ο ηθοποιός David Tennant που τον έχουμε γνωρίσει μέσα από πολλούς και διάσημους ρόλους στα Dr. Who, Harry Potter, Broadchurch & Good Omens ήταν ο παρουσιαστής της βραδιάς. Στo επίκεντρo βρέθηκαν η Emma Stone (Poor Things) κι ο Cillian Murphy, (Oppenheimer), οι οποίοι κέρδισαν τα βραβεία Α’ Ρόλου.
Στην κατηγορία της καλύτερης ταινίας, το βραβείο απέσπασε το “Oppenheimer” του Christopher Nolan. Μεταξύ των υποψηφίων και των νικητών των τηλεοπτικών βραβείων BAFTA 2024 βρέθηκαν και σειρές απ’ τις πλατφόρμες Netflix, HBO και Amazon.
H Emma Stone που παρέλαβε το βραβείο του Α’ Γυναικείου ρόλου ευχαρίστησε τον Γιώργο Λάνθιμο και την ομάδα και συμπλήρωσε ότι αυτός ο ρόλος της άλλαξε τη ζωή.
